Appraisals: The art which R. H. Love Galleries appraises usually ranges in date from the 18th through the early 20th centuries. In fact, we prefer not to appraise works prior to or after these dates. Our services in this category provide in-house art historical research, where necessary, and hands-on inspection of the art. Fees are adjustable, dependent upon the number of works submitted for appraisal.

Collector Services - (table detail)Research: Art historical research is an important facet of R. H. Love Galleries. No less than two trained art historians are available on staff at our facility. These experts have access to a large gallery library in addition to outside research facilities in the city of Chicago. For the most part, we feel that no research project is too large so long as it pertains to the specific field of art history in which R. H. Love Galleries specializes. Questions of authenticity can be researched for a fee but all such projects must ultimately become the decision of leading authorities, especially where catalouges raisonné are involved.

Consultation: Richard H. Love and staff members are available for art consultation at an hourly rate. These fees are adjustable in accordance with the project at hand. The customer’s needs must be clearly outlined and discussed in detail before any contractual arrangement can be made.

Crating and Shipping: R. H. Love Galleries maintains a large, full-service crating and shipping facility. Our services include packing and sending via UPS paintings and other art objects. In the case of larger works of art, special crates can be constructed at a fee and the expedition of these crates can be arranged. Costs vary with each work of art and/or project.

Restoration: The need for art restoration is frequently required. Valuable works of art must be treated with great care in this all-important aspect in the maintenance of fine art. Although the gallery relies on three separate reputable conservators, we feel comfortable in the diverse experience of these experts. We specialize in paintings but are able to work with the customer on nearly any work of fine art.

Framing
: Framing is an integral part of the aesthetic, historical and preservative aspects of paintings and works on paper. Our gallery offers expertise in the selection of appropriate frames to suit a painting’s specific style or period and/or proper matting and framing of works on paper. Although this work is not done on-site, expedient and expert service is provided via the Gallery.
