About Us

About Us - (view of back gallery)For over forty years, R.H. Love Galleries has exhibited and sold important American art ranging in date from the Colonial period to the mid 20th century.  Gerardus Duyckinck, Gilbert Stuart, John F. Kensett, Fitz Hugh Lane, Albert Bierstadt, Childe Hassam, George Inness, Theodore Earl Butler, Mary Cassatt, William Merritt Chase, Jasper Cropsey, and Theodore Robinson are just a few of the many artists whose work we have sold.  Art schools such as Federal, Hudson River, Romantic, Tonalist, Academic, Impressionist, Post-impressionist, early Modern, Ashcan, and American Scene painting have been available to museums and serious collectors.

One of our major objectives has been to bring recognition to forgotten American artists through  gallery and museum exhibitions and publications.  However, our primary motivation is to bring fine art from our walls to yours.  Indeed, we trust that you are the connoisseurs we wish to impress with our current inventory.  Over the years, R.H. Love Galleries has provided the aesthetic direction for private collectors to pursue what has amounted to the development of several important American art collections, which have been documented by catalogues.  We would be happy to assist you with selection of paintings to fit you personal needs.  Another one of our goals is to assist in the development of your knowledge of American art.  No doubt when these fine images grace the walls of your home or office you will be as proud of them as we are in offering them for sale. As you peruse our website, we hope that the viewing of the many superb artworks will inspire you to own one and share with us our love of the heritage of American art.

Please visit our newest location on Chicago's Magnificent Mile at 645 North Michigan Avenue, second floor in the heart of the Goldcoast, where our knowledgeable staff can assist you in selecting a work of art that is suitable for your home or office.
